India, March 6 -- Chaos briefly erupted during the first day of the Goa Legislative Assembly session after protesters opposing the proposed dam on the Zuari River at Mirabag raised slogans from the visitors' gallery.

The demonstrators, who had come to watch the proceedings, suddenly began protesting against the dam project, drawing immediate attention inside the House.

Reacting strongly to the disruption, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant directed authorities to arrest the protesters. "Arrest them," the Chief Minister said as the protest unfolded during the session.

Members of the ruling benches also condemned the act, stating that disrupting the proceedings of the Assembly was unacceptable.
