Goa, Nov. 2 -- Former Goa Chief Minister Churchill Alemao has announced that he will contest the upcoming Assembly election from the Benaulim constituency. The veteran leader said his talks with the Congress party are ongoing as he seeks a possible ticket for the 2027 polls.

Alemao, who has earlier represented Benaulim, said people from the constituency have urged him to return to electoral politics. He indicated that he is prepared to fight the election and that public support will play a key role in his final decision.

He also expressed his desire for daughter Valanka Alemao to contest from Navelim, saying she has the support of the people in the constituency.
