Goa, Dec. 25 -- Villagers of Chimbel have intensified their protest against the proposed Unity Mall and Prashasan Stambh projects, raising concerns over environmental damage and loss of biodiversity. Protesters claim the projects could lead to the destruction of Toyaar Lake and disturb the ecological balance of the area. Holding placards and staging demonstrations near the project site, villagers reiterated their opposition and demanded the projects be scrapped. As part of the agitation, residents have warned of a gherao at the Chimbel Panchayat on December 26. This will be followed by a hunger strike starting December 28.
