India, Feb. 9 -- The Centre has cleared Rs 22.26 crore for Goa under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman (PM-POSHAN) scheme, popularly known as the mid-day meal programme, for the ongoing academic year. The release of the full central allocation is expected to benefit more than 1.58 lakh students across the state by ensuring uninterrupted supply of nutritious meals in government and aided schools. Sources said the Centre has already released its complete share, while the Goa government has also provided its portion on time. Officials added that the state will further supplement the scheme with additional funds beyond the earmarked amount, if required.
