Centre Clarifies No Music Licence Fee for Weddings and Social Functions
Goa, May 18 -- The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), has clarified that no music licence fee will be charged for wedding ceremonies and related social functions.
The issue was earlier raised in the Goa Legislative Assembly by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, who highlighted complaints regarding alleged harassment and unauthorised demands for music licence fees during social gatherings and marriage functions.
Following the concerns raised in the Assembly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had assured that the matter would be taken up with the Central government.
