Goa, June 16 -- Cape Verde produced one of the biggest upsets in FIFA World Cup history by holding reigning European champions Spain to a remarkable 0-0 draw in their tournament debut on Monday.

The island nation, with a population of around 550,000, became only the second-smallest country ever to compete in the men's FIFA World Cup finals and marked the occasion with a resilient defensive display that earned a historic point against one of the tournament favourites.
