Goa, July 20 -- Calangute Police have detained a 25-year-old man who appeared in a viral video alleging that he was stalking women in the coastal village.

During questioning, the accused told police that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and had only approached the women to ask for directions. He denied the allegations of stalking or harassment.

Police subsequently took the man into preventive custody under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for allegedly creating a public disturbance while in an intoxicated state.

Further inquiry into the incident is underway.
