Goa, Oct. 21 -- Former Tripura Chief Minister and BJP MP Biplab Kumar Deb sparked controversy on Tuesday by calling West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a "demon" and comparing her to Mir Jafar, the historical figure infamous for betraying Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah during the Battle of Plassey in 1757.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the Indranagar Kali Bari, Deb accused Mamata Banerjee of losing her compassion and humanity. "There is no human value left in Bengal today. Murders, rapes, and arson have become routine, yet the Chief Minister remains unaffected - as if her heart has been removed," he said.
