Goa, July 29 -- Trawler owners at the Betul fishing jetty have begun readying their vessels for the commencement of Goa's fishing season on August 1, following the conclusion of the annual fishing ban.

Speaking to the media, trawler owner Savio D'Silva said that while the fishing season officially begins on August 1, adverse weather conditions and rough seas are likely to delay fishing operations.

He said that most trawlers are expected to venture into the sea only on August 3 or 4, provided weather conditions improve.
