Goa, Aug. 10 -- Farmers from Betalbatim staged a protest on Saturday, expressing outrage over the construction of an illegal retaining wall that has blocked their traditional access to agricultural fields.
The farmers said the wall has created a serious obstacle, particularly with the harvest season approaching and large tracts of paddy already cultivated.
For decades, local farmers have used a specific path to reach their fields beyond the now-blocked area. The sudden construction of the wall has not only disrupted their routine but also threatens to delay or even prevent harvesting, potentially causing significant losses to their seasonal yield.
