Bengaluru Quarry Collapse: FIR Alleges Gross Negligence, Lack of Safety Measures Behind Seven Deaths
Goa, July 3 -- A First Information Report (FIR) filed in connection with the quarry collapse on the outskirts of Bengaluru, which claimed seven lives, has accused quarry owners, supervisors and machinery operators of gross negligence, alleging that workers were made to continue operations despite serious safety risks.
The complaint, lodged by a worker at the Tavarekere Police Station, states that the incident occurred around 7.30 am at a stone quarry operated by Kaveri Company in Huluvanehalli village near Madapattana. According to the FIR, labourers were drilling holes with the help of tractor-mounted compressors when a massive section of rock collapsed.
