Goa, June 9 -- England captain Ben Stokes could be facing the biggest challenge of his career off the field, with reports suggesting he may step down as Test captain and could even consider retiring from international cricket following a nightclub incident currently under investigation by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson are being investigated over an incident that allegedly took place at a London nightclub in the early hours of Monday, shortly after England's 115-run victory over New Zealand in the first Test at Lord's.
