Goa, April 19 -- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to extend the tenure of Ajit Agarkar as chairman of the senior men's selection committee until June 2027. His current contract was nearing its end, but with the ICC Cricket World Cup scheduled for late 2027, the board has opted for continuity in leadership.

Agarkar, who took charge in July 2023, has overseen one of India's most successful white-ball phases in recent years. During his tenure, India reached the 2023 ODI World Cup final and went on to win multiple ICC trophies, including the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups and the 2025 Champions Trophy.
