Goa, Nov. 7 -- Villagers of Azos sim have vowed to fight any attempt to take over approximately 1.15 lakh square metres of Comu nidade land in the village, alleging that the controver sial transfer of the proper ties was part of an attempt to grab valuable agricultur al and temple land through questionable tenancy proceedings. At a meeting held near a temple at Azossim on Fri day, villagers resolved to approach the Deputy Col lector and Sub-Divisional Officer, Panjim, and present their objections when the appeal against the disputed purchase orders comes up for hearing on November 24. They also demanded that the land be made avail able to landless residents of the village for construction of houses.
