Army Sports Institute Athletes Lead India's Asian Games Medal Haul
Goa, Oct. 9 -- Indian sporting disciplines celebrated major achievements across multiple international platforms, highlighted by stellar medal performances at the Asian Games, historic milestones on the World Table Tennis (WTT) circuit, and preparations for the upcoming Asian Para Games.
The Army Sports Institute (ASI) based in Pune emerged as a primary powerhouse behind India's international sports success. ASI athletes secured 12 medals at the Asian Games, accounting for an impressive 60 percent of the total 20 medals won by Indian Army personnel across various disciplines. Distance runner Gulveer Singh led the track and field contingent, capturing three medals-highlighted by a silver medal performance in the men's 1,500-meter final.
