Goa, May 27 -- The Supreme Court upheld the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, calling it constitutional and legally valid. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi welcomed the verdict and accused the INDIA bloc of attacking constitutional institutions. The court said the exercise was necessary to maintain accurate voter rolls amid migration and duplication concerns.
Academician Michel Danino criticised NCERT after the Supreme Court recalled parts of its earlier order directing institutions to disassociate from him and his co-authors over a Class 8 textbook controversy. Danino said NCERT failed to defend the academic vision behind the textbooks and did not consult the authors before filing its affidavit....
