Goa, July 18 -- A political storm erupted in West Bengal on Saturday after authorities demolished the MP office of Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee in South 24 Parganas, alleging that the building had been constructed illegally.

The demolition began after bulldozers arrived at the office located on the Amtala-Baruipur Road in Amtala. Earlier, the administration had issued a notice claiming that the structure had been built without obtaining the required permissions. Acting on the notice, officials proceeded with the demolition on Saturday.
