Goa, Oct. 21 -- Nine transgender individuals in Mumbai reportedly attempted suicide on Monday in protest against derogatory comments directed at their spiritual leader, Salma Khan, associated with the non-profit Kinnar Maa Sansthan. The organisation works for the welfare and empowerment of transgender and Hijra communities across India.
According to police, the incident took place on the first floor of the non-profit's office. The nine individuals were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, treated, and later discharged. Authorities confirmed that all are out of danger.
