Goa, April 27 -- Vasco Railway Police have arrested 24‑year‑old Ambrish Beggar of Bagalkot, Karnataka, in connection with a theft on the Velankanni-Vasco Express. The case was registered after Vasco resident Afroza Begum Hukkeri, 59, reported that her handbag was stolen while travelling in the general coach between Sanvordem and Chandor in the early hours of April 23.

The stolen items included a Samsung mobile phone and a pair of silver anklets weighing about 250 grams, valued at approximately Rs.67,000. The offence has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the accused is currently in police custody.
