DOHA, June 23 -- Qatari authorities have confirmed that 12 Indian nationals were among the 13 people killed in a deadly explosion at the Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas (LNG) complex on Sunday night, according to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Qatar.

"Qatari authorities have confirmed that 12 Indian nationals have unfortunately passed away in the Ras Laffan incident yesterday night. We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls," the embassy said.

The explosion claimed a total of 13 lives and left 66 others injured, Qatar's Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi confirmed during a press briefing on Monday.
