Goa, Sept. 11 -- As many as 112 tourists from Murbad taluka in Thane district are stranded in Nepal's Kathmandu and Pokhara cities following violent anti-government protests.

According to Murbad MLA Kisan Kathore, 47 of the tourists are currently sheltered in a hotel in Kathmandu, where the unrest has been most severe, while 65 others are staying in a hotel in Pokhara.

"We have spoken to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Thane district collector regarding the safe return of these 112 tourists," Kathore said in a statement on Wednesday.
