According to reports, Tyler passed away at a hospital in Portugal after battling an illness. She had undergone emergency intestinal surgery and was later placed in intensive care.

Born Gaynor Hopkins in Wales, Tyler rose to international fame with hits like It's a Heartache before achieving global superstardom with Total Eclipse of the Heart, written by Jim Steinman.
