'No point in going back': Dinesh Karthik on Mohammed Shami's India comeback
Goa, Oct. 5 -- Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik believes Mohammed Shami's chances of returning to the national team are fading, saying India has already moved beyond the experienced fast bowler.
Shami has continued to perform well in domestic cricket but has been out of India's international setup since 2025, with fitness and injury concerns affecting his availability. His absence has once again become a talking point following criticism of India's bowling attack during the recent ODI series against West Indies.
India won the three-match series 2-1, but the bowling unit struggled at times on batting-friendly pitches. Despite those concerns, Karthik does not believe bringing Shami back is the answer.
