Brief Summary: Non-invasive mechanical ventilation is the first-line treatment for acute respiratory failure in patients with type II respiratory failure. However, pain, anxiety, discomfort, and mask-related pressure may reduce treatment adherence, shorten therapy duration, and impair mask tolerance.
