U.S., Oct. 23 -- ClinicalTrials.gov registry received information related to the study (NCT07890129) titled 'Stopping Blood Pressure Medications Without Tapering in Long-Term Care' on Oct. 18.
Brief Summary: Blood pressure medications may provide limited benefit and cause side effects in frail older adults. It is unclear how best to stop these medications. Guidelines often recommend gradually reducing the dose, but this process can be time-consuming. This study examined the feasibility of stopping blood pressure medications without gradually reducing the dose in long-term care residents with low blood pressure. Eligible residents had their medication stopped and were monitored for four weeks.
