Brief Summary: Systemic inflammation and intestinal hyperpermeability (disruption of the gut barrier which allows nutrient molecules and bacteria to enter the bloodstream) are triggered by consumption of high-sugar meals and are linked to future development of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
