Brief Summary: Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a recent monitoring technique that provides information on regional ventilation distribution. Following the injection of a hypertonic saline bolus, EIT can also assess regional pulmonary perfusion distribution, allowing evaluation of the ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) ratio.
