Brief Summary: Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) results from reduced pancreatic enzyme secretion, leading to malabsorption, malnutrition, and impaired quality of life. Although pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) is the standard treatment, some patients remain symptomatic despite apparently adequate therapy.
