Dehradun, 28 Jul: The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has claimed that smart meters will now serve not only as devices to measure electricity consumption but also as reliable companions for consumer safety and energy saving. In a statement issued today, the UPCL officials have claimed that equipped with new technology, these meters would be able to provide timely alerts in case of earthing leakage in household electrical systems.
