Roorkee, 24 Jul: A recent study by researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) and GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (GBPNIHE), Kosi, has warned that climate change could significantly impact long-term water security in Uttarakhand's Kosi River Basin. The findings indicate rising temperatures, declining groundwater recharge, and increasing drought risks that could affect agriculture, drinking water supplies, and fragile Himalayan ecosystems across the Kumaon region.
