Dehradun, 7 Sep: The political controversy over the alleged 'purification' of the Ramlila Maidan in Haldwani following Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge's rally on 8 August further escalated today with hundreds of Congress leaders and workers marching towards the Chief Minister's residence in Dehradun despite heavy rain. The protesters were stopped by the police near Hathibarkala, where barricades had been erected to prevent them from proceeding further.
