Monrovia, May 19 -- The Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Mo Ali, has come under heavy criticism following comments he made claiming that more than half of Liberia's population has access to a water supply.

Speaking on Monday on the Spoon Breakfast Show, the LWSC Managing Director said his administration had successfully connected more than 17,000 homes in Monrovia to running water.

"We have connected over 17,000 homes to running water in Monrovia, while 76 percent of Liberia's population now has access to basic water supply," Ali said.
