PHIs launch island-wide trade union action over airport transfer
COLOMBO, Aug. 24 -- Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) across Sri Lanka are set to launch island-wide trade union action from 8.00 a.m. Monday (24), protesting the alleged unfair transfer of a PHI attached to the Health Office at Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.
The Public Health Inspectors' Association said the trade union action was prompted by the transfer of Public Health Inspector B. H. Migasdeniya after he raised objections to what the Association described as illegal activities at the Airport Health Office.
The Association said the Ministry of Health had so far failed to provide a satisfactory solution to the issue, prompting it to resort to trade union action.
