COLOMBO, July 22 -- The Homagama High Court on Tuesday (21) adjourned until Aug. 7 the money laundering case against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, over allegations involving a Rs 17 million bank deposit.

The case, filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was taken up for trial before High Court Judge Krishanthi Amaratunga, who postponed further proceedings to Aug. 7.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa appeared before the court, represented by President's Counsel Sampath Mendis.

The Attorney General has indicted Rajapaksa over allegations that Rs 17 million was deposited into his private bank account in violation of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
