COLOMBO, Oct. 8 -- The Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) in Colombo has been formally designated as a place of detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) through an Extraordinary Gazette notification issued by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Minister of Defence.

Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2509/11, published on October 6, states that the President exercised powers vested in him under Section 9 of the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act, No. 48 of 1979, to declare the CCIB a place of detention under the Act.

The designated facility is located on the seventh floor of the Labour Secretariat Building in Colombo 5.
