India, Oct. 21 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Oct. 21, 2026 that filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, has been made tax-free in West Bengal ahead of its theatrical release on Nov. 5, 2026.
Tax-free announcement on Dussehra
According to the report, Adhikari made the announcement on Dussehra and spoke to ANI on Tuesday.
Adhikari said, “The Ramayana film has been made tax-free.” He also referred to other films in the same context.
Adhikari’s ANI remarks included the following titles:

* The Kashmir Files
* The Bengal Files
He added, “In the days to come, we will see films on Shri Krishna and Arjuna, as well as the Mahabharata...”.
