India, Aug. 18 -- The long-awaited trial over Tupac Shakur's 1996 killing opened in Las Vegas with prosecutors and the defence offering sharply different accounts of what happened before the rapper was fatally shot.
Prosecutors Link Davis To Revenge Plot
Duane "Keffe D" Davis, 63, is charged with murder with a deadly weapon and faces a possible life sentence if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Binu Palal told jurors that Davis planned the shooting after Shakur's entourage attacked his nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, following a boxing match at the MGM Grand on September 7, 1996. Prosecutors allege Davis organised the retaliation, although they acknowledge he was not the person who fired the shots.
