India, Sept. 15 -- An advertising campaign featuring actor Sydney Sweeney has drawn criticism from female athletes, who say the campaign sexualizes women rather than highlighting their strength and achievements in sport.
Campaign Faces Criticism
The advertisement is for sports prediction market platform Novig. It features Sweeney wearing little or no clothing, with footballs and sports apparel positioned to cover parts of her body. The imagery has prompted several female athletes to publicly challenge the campaign.
Four-time Olympic swimming gold medallist Ariarne Titmus said she was infuriated by the advertisement, questioning why women's bodies continue to be sexualized for commercial purposes.
