India, Sept. 8 -- Ranbir Kapoor's casting as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming Ramayana has drawn criticism from Shiv Sagar, grandson of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, who believes a fresh face would have been more appropriate for the role.

Shiv Sagar's Objection

Shiv Sagar, whose grandfather created the iconic 1987 Doordarshan series Ramayan, said he personally struggles to accept Kapoor as Lord Rama because of the actor's association with his previous characters.

Speaking to ANI, Shiv said he liked much of the film's casting but disagreed with the decision to cast Kapoor as Rama. He specifically referred to Kapoor's performance in Animal, where the actor played a violent and morally conflicted character.
