India, Oct. 12 -- Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah will portray author Salman Rushdie in 27 Seconds, a theatrical adaptation of the writer's memoir Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder, exploring the 2022 assassination attempt and its emotional aftermath. The play will premiere at the Prithvi Theatre Festival next month, bringing Rushdie's account of survival, trauma and love to the stage.
From Memoir to Theatre
Produced by Motley Productions, the play features Shah as Rushdie and Malaika Choudhury as his wife, poet and novelist Rachel Eliza Griffiths. The production draws directly from Rushdie's 2024 memoir, following the author's approval of the adaptation.
