India, Sept. 14 -- Gary Oldman believes HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series could offer a more complete adaptation of JK Rowling's books than the original film franchise, allowing more room for character development and story details.
More room for Rowling's story
Oldman, who played Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films, said the movies had to leave out substantial portions of the books because of their limited runtimes. According to the actor, even films approaching three hours could not accommodate all the material from the novels.
He said the cuts meant that "a lot of character detail was sacrificed", particularly affecting the depth given to several characters and storylines.
