India, Aug. 26 -- US country music icon Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, her family announced on Tuesday, marking the end of a remarkable career that spanned more than six decades and produced some of the genre's most enduring songs.
Family announces her death
Parton's family confirmed her death in a video shared on social media, with her nephew saying that she had "lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus." No cause of death was disclosed.
Her nephew Bryan Seaver remembered the singer as someone who opened doors for generations of singers, songwriters, musicians and dreamers. He said Parton's influence extended far beyond her music and that her determination inspired people to believe that anything was possible.
