Dhaka, Sept. 30 -- A residential electricity consumer in Magura was issued an electricity bill of nearly Tk 5.07 billion for consuming only 235 units of electricity.

Following the incident, Md. Mohitul Islam , General Manager (GM) of Magura Palli Bidyut Samity, was immediately suspended from his job for alleged negligence in the discharge of his official duties. Disciplinary action has also been taken against others responsible for the incident. The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) took the action on Wednesday following an urgent directive from the Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
