Police Asked to Ensure Security of Power Substations Amid Public Anger Over Power Cuts
Dhaka, Aug. 12 -- The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Association has written to the police seeking enhanced security at rural power facilities amid concerns over public anger caused by prolonged power outages.
The letter was sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday, requesting security measures for all 80 Palli Bidyut Samities (PBSs).
In the letter signed by Mahbubur Rahman, Office Secretary of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Association, it was stated that public anger has been growing in various areas due to excessive load shedding. Some power substations and offices have already come under attack, leaving officials and employees on duty feeling insecure.
