Dhaka, Sept. 30 -- Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud has instructed Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to investigate whether artificial shortages of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are being created in any areas and whether the fuel is being sold at inflated prices despite there being no shortage in overall supply.

The minister also asked the DCs to investigate the reasons behind any local shortages despite adequate supply and submit reports with supporting information and evidence.

He gave the instructions during an online meeting with the Deputy Commissioners at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
