Dhaka, Oct. 3 -- Bangladesh will investigate the reasons behind shortages of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in some parts of the country despite imports being made in line with demand, Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said on Saturday.

The minister made the remarks at a meeting with LPG importers at the Secretariat, attended by Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.

Importers told the meeting that they were not illegally stockpiling LPG.

According to the meeting, LPG imports had been made according to market demand, but supplies remained inadequate in some areas.
