Bangladesh Proposes Importing Gas from Myanmar Through a Pipeline
Dhaka, Aug. 2 -- Bangladesh has proposed importing natural gas from Myanmar through a cross-border pipeline. Guided by its "Neighbourhood First" policy, Bangladesh is interested in expanding energy cooperation with Myanmar.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting between Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hasan Mahmud and Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh U Kyaw Soe Moe at the Secretariat on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the meeting.
The State Minister said Bangladesh has a growing demand for natural gas and is interested in importing gas from Myanmar through a pipeline. The Myanmar Ambassador responded positively to the proposal and also suggested that liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to Banglades...
