Bangladesh, June 22 -- Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud has said that all quick rental power plants in the country have been retired. He said the government has taken various initiatives to promote renewable energy to ensure sustainable energy security in the long term. The minister made the statement on Monday while responding to a question from Chattogram-15 constituency lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury in the National Parliament. He said the government has set a target of generating 20 percent of the country's total electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and 30 percent by 2040.
