Dhaka, Sept. 22 -- Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a 3,200 MW thermal power plant of Adani Power Limited in Chapor, Dhubri district of Assam, India. The ultra-supercritical power plant is expected to involve an investment of around Tk 60,000 crore.

According to the Adani Group, the project will generate employment for up to 20,000 people during the construction phase. Once operational, it is expected to create around 5,000 jobs. Local contractors, suppliers, transport businesses and various service providers will also have opportunities to participate in the project.
