Nepal, Sept. 16 -- Purna Ghale, a resident of Khalte in Rasuwa, survived the August 26 floods but many of his family members remain missing since the disaster-his father, eldest son, daughter-in-law, younger brother, two granddaughters and three sons-in-law.

With none of their bodies recovered, they are all but presumed dead. Without a body, there is no death certificate. Without a death certificate he has not been able to even claim relief. Ghale lost his home and everything he owned. He doesn't have any money to perform the funeral rites of those presumed dead. "At least I want to perform the rites according to our faith and traditions," he said. "Perhaps their souls would find peace."
